From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide® evolved from “From the Heart Ministries®, the Teaching Ministry of John and Diana Cherry” and “From the Heart Church Ministries, Inc®” as result of a Divine call from God on June 13, 1999 to our Founder, Dr. John A. Cherry (1940 – 2019), for him to leave his former denomination.  Dr. Cherry obeyed and began doing ministry as From the Heart Church Ministries® on July 8, 1999 and soon thereafter was consecrated as the first and founding Episcopal Pastor of From the Heart on Sunday, September 12, 1999.  Dr. Cherry taught several Reformation Teachings, based on what God spoke to his heart that From the Heart would be at the forefront of the Reformation of the Church (the Body of Christ).

As a result, many pastors began to seek oversight for their ministries because of their belief in these Reformation teachings. This was the start of local From the Heart churches being established within the United States and around the world.  The first From the Heart church was established on May 28, 2000 in Richmond, Virginia.  Other churches were established including some from our former denomination in India, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.

Dr. Cherry retired from the pastorate of the Parent Church after 25-years and installed Bishop John A. Cherry, II and the new pastor on Sunday, June 4, 2006.  As the churches grew, the work in the United States and other international locations increased and required a Bishop to help oversee these ministries. There was a Bishop installed in the work over India (Bishop P. James Herbert) Indonesia (Bishop Amos Numberi), Eastern Europe (Bishop Alexi Sakovich), and the United States (Bishop John Cherry, II) from 2006 to 2014.

At the inaugural July 28 – August 1 2010, General Church Meeting, Dr. Cherry set out to establish From the Heart in a oneness worldwide. At the July 15 – 20, 2014 General Church Meeting, Dr. Cherry set out to bring God’s Church back to its original behavior, with an emphasis to maximize and strengthen what we have. At the July 10- 15, 2018 General Church Meeting, Dr. Cherry and Reverend Diana Cherry retired from ministry and highlighted God’s faithfulness to From the Heart.  Bishop John A. Cherry, II was installed as the second Episcopal Pastor of the church at this time. His inaugural Episcopal Address was entitled “A New Dispensation for From the Heart”.

At the July 12 – 17, 2022 General Church Meeting, Bishop Cherry preached out of the theme, Motivated by Love and his sermon title was “Why Us, Why Now?” answering the question as to why we must continue the work that God has called us to do as a ministry.  The Episcopal Pastor visits the stateside and overseas churches on a regular basis, preaching out of the current year’s theme and objectives.  There are From the Heart churches located in North America, South America, Africa and Asia.

Praise the Lord From the Heart!

This time of year is a blessing as we look to celebrate the Lent Season, Holy Week and the Resurrection of our Savior.  This is a time for us as Christians to deny our flesh and to remember the sacrifice of Jesus.  We should always take this season seriously, giving deference to the everlasting power of God and the victory of our Lord over sin and death.

We are also entering the last few months of this quadrennial since the last General Church Meeting.  So much has happened in our churches and in our lives since we last came together in 2018.  I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as we can at the July 2022 General Church Meeting, under the current safety guidelines and measures.

In these last four years I have been reminded not to take my church, or the assembly of ourselves together, for granted. I have also been reminded of how precious, valuable and costly life is (Psalms 116:15) and that we are blessed to have one another. I LOVE MY CHURCH!
